Creative Disruptors is a unique international maker challenge for young people in the UK and Tanzania undertaking KS3-5 education. Run by Bright Green Enterprise in the UK and Twende Social Innovation Centre in Tanzania, students are presented with a challenge “to invent or innovate an appropriate technology” that tackle’s a 21st-century issue.
Centred on issues surrounding the theme of Sustainable Development, teams work through a creative learning curriculum designed to develop empathy and creative capacity, before embarking on their own ‘build it’ project. The challenge is supported by our unique resources and skills-sharing platforms as well as partner makerspaces in the UK and Tanzania.
Join an international network of young innovators!
The Creative Disruptors network is a unique opportunity for students to join an international community of peers with an interest in global learning, making and enterprise.
The challenge takes place between the UK and Tanzania where each participant will have the opportunity to explore innovation case studies from across the globe, exchange ideas with their international peers, ask questions, listen, build empathy, think critically and of course, innovate!
Crucially, teams within the UK and Tanzania will be taking the same challenge and will share their progress via our online skills-sharing platforms. Participants will be encouraged to learn how societal challenges are perceived within different cultural environments and learn more about the skills needed to tackle them.
A key learning outcome of this challenge is for students in the UK and Tanzania to see how their international peers are tackling the same challenge brief. By sharing the same online learning space, teams will share their approaches to problem solving and making throughout the challenge.
